Globo San Miguel

One of the best views over the town and surrounding country is from the mirador (overlook) southeast of town. Take Callejón del Chorro, the track leading directly downhill from here, and turn left at the bottom to reach El Chorro , the spring where San Miguel was founded (note the fountain and public washing tubs).El Mirador is a place both day and night offers one of the best views of San Miguel de Allende, is a must to take pictures and take a nice souvenir of the city point.

San Miguel's 88-hectare botanical garden is also a wildlife and bird sanctuary. Pathways head through wetlands and magnificent areas of cacti and native plants. The deep canyon at the bottom boasts the eponymous freshwater spring, El Charco del Ingenio. Don't miss the Conservatory of Mexican Plants, which houses cacti and succulent species. Two-hour tours (in English) depart every Tuesday and Thursday at 10am (M$80). Birdwatching tours take place at 9am on the first and third Wednesday of the month.

Q: Do I need to speak Spanish?A: Not at all! San Miguel is very tourist-friendly, and many people speak English. Learning a few basic Spanish phrases is always helpful though!Q: What currency is used in Mexico, and can I use my credit card?A: Mexico uses the Mexican Peso (MXN). Most places accept credit cards, but small shops and markets are cash-friendly.
